Sunday. The Spaniard beat Norway's Ruud 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 in the final of the
tournament to continue his dominance on the clay court.
Notably,
with this win, Nadal took his Grand Slam title tally to 22, extending his over
Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, who have 20 titles each.
The
36-year-old also became the oldest men's champion at Roland Garros.
Nadal looked
in complete control from set 1 as he bagged 11 games in a row after being
broken early in the second.
Nadal claimed
his 14th French Open title with a backhand shot down the line.
Earlier, few
reports claimed that Nadal is set to announce his retirement after the
conclusion of Roland Garros. However, the Spaniard is still to speak on the
rumour.
