Newcastle fans can now 'Bruce' themselves for a serious competitive era under the Saudi
After days of constant speculation the decision has finally been made, Steve Bruce has officially left Newcastle United with mutual consent after the club's defeat against Spurs over the weekend
A rather harsh end to Steve Bruce's steady 2 year mid table journey at Newcastle United but again this is how things work in modern football. The Magpies find themselves 19th in the table with just 3 points from 8 games played with no win so far. Maybe Mike Ashley would have trusted the veteran Bruce to turn things around since we are still early in the season but the wealthy new owners of the club see things differently. They were already rumoured to be searching for a new face to coach the side and these run of poor results just worked in their favour to bring in someone that will match their ambition.
Sunday's 2:3 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur turned out to be a bittersweet one for Bruce as it was his 1000th managerial game in charge but also proved to be the last straw for him. "I think it might be my last job. It has been very, very tough. To never really be wanted, to feel that people wanted me to fail & saying I would fail, that I was useless, a fat waste of space, a tactically inept cabbage headβ, said the dejected 60 year old after he mutually parted ways with the club today.
The club will be led by interim manager Graeme Jones for this weekend's game against Crystal Palace as well as the next few games till the owners can find a suitable replacement.
